Annual Bookbag Drive

Helping students start the school year prepared for success

The FOP Lodge 2F DC Annual Bookbag Drive is one of our most beloved community outreach events. Each year, we collect and distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need in the Washington, D.C. and Maryland area, helping them start the school year ready to learn.

About the Bookbag Drive

The Bookbag Drive was established to address the shortage of school supplies among children in underserved communities. Many families struggle to afford the basics their children need, and our drive helps bridge that gap. Each backpack is filled with essential supplies — notebooks, pencils, pens, rulers, and more — for a successful school year.

How It Works

  1. 1We collect donations of new backpacks and school supplies throughout the summer.
  2. 2Volunteers sort and pack the backpacks with supplies.
  3. 3Backpacks are distributed to children in need at a community event.
  4. 4Families receive everything their children need to start the school year.

How You Can Help

  • Donate new backpacks or school supplies.
  • Make a monetary donation to help purchase supplies.
  • Volunteer your time to help sort and pack backpacks.
  • Spread the word to friends, family, and colleagues.
  • Sponsor the event or a portion of the supplies needed.
